EARTH ESCAPE is a contemporary geopolitical thriller which rapidly vaults the reader just fifteen years into the future when the first manned inter-stellar mission is launched to reach and colonize Earth II, an exo-planet light years from Earth. While there are arguably elements of science fiction, in as much as there is First Contact (contact with alien life), in truth, even the technology depicted is within our grasp, as NASA, today, is testing the very propulsion system detailed in this book. The real theme of this book which has relevancy to everyone, is the fact that Earth, in the next decade, finds itself devolving into largely three geopolitical zones, with the America's and Europe, Russia and China and the Islamic Republic at their cores - and with escalating population growth and the drain on resources, our planet and culture is being pushed to the edge. The only hope of assuring our future is to find and colonize new worlds. EARTH ESCAPE is largely told from the perspective of the Captain of the star ship, Evolution, a misfit and recalcitrant NASA engineer, who questions himself and all the paradigms of existence and who interacts with the most advanced computer entity every created, CASS, who can be likened to HAL from Arthur C. Clarke's 2001 A Space Odyssey, but who in fact is far more advanced and far more interactive in ways which the reader will come to appreciate. Jim Tale, the Captain, not only must deal with entirely unpredicted encounters on this journey, but also the fact that during his twenty-seven-year voyage Earth has reached a point of no return with imminent nuclear war, one which could easily plunge humanity back to the stone age. All the while, as he fights his way through deep space toward Earth II, and then beyond, Jim Tale is also fighting to find the truth about existence in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, if he can find out why and HOW the Universe came about, that he can do something about saving humanity from its own suicidal hand.
