Born and raised in the deep South, Ebony was cursed by the elders in the A.M.E. Zion church after a long incestual love affair was revealed. Feeling too inferior to enter the presence of God and infuriated by the hypocrisy of her Christian community, Ebony ran far away from the church never to consider Jesus again. Yet after witnessing the power of God transform her friend Alcatraz from a naive, hopeless addict to a confident, successful inspiration, Ebony decides to face her past and consider giving God another chance.
