Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (1859-1930) fue un médico y escritor de novelas policíacas británico de origen escocés. Ejerció como médico en su primera etapa. Para completar sus ingresos económicos se decidió a escribir. Fue el creador del detective de ficción más famoso de todos los tiempos: Sherlock Holmes. Sin embargo, lo mató cuando se cansó de él, lo resucitó cuando se lo reclamaron y jamás consideró que este personaje y su inteligencia hiperlógica fueran su mayor legado. Él prefirió sus novelas históricas, pero hoy nadie las recuerda.
