The Field Parameters and EMC Applications Project of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has recently completed shielding effectiveness studies of three representative aircraft for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These studies will be used to provide the FAA with the procedures and data reduction techniques for typical low-level airframe penetration for high intensity radiated field (HIRF) attenuation/shielding tests.
