Elements of Consciousness
Autor David Bartholomewen Limba Engleză Paperback – 2 mai 2013
How do you know?
What is 'out there?'
In this provocative and groundbreaking study, the author examines these and other fascinating questions that are becoming every¬day more important as we rely on machines large and small to do our "thinking" for us. Although the author has described his work as "cut-rate philosophy for students and house-husbands," his Elements is in fact an exacting treatise on meaning and understanding from the natural standpoint of the universe as we apprehend it. Renowned neuro-plasmologist Santiago Guzmél has said of it: "Here is a book of seminal impor¬tance that fundamen¬tally reinvents our notion of conscious¬ness and of our place in the world."
Are microbes conscious?
Do trees have feelings?
Can machines think?
David Bartholomew was born in Baltimore, USA, and grew up in Europe and East Asia where his Quaker parents served with the American Friends Society. He lives in Spain and raises orchids.
