Ella Woodhams longs for the security of a home after she and her family arrive in America in 1884. As they travel from New York City to Ontario, NY, they have exciting adventures (and a few frightening experiences) on the Hudson River and the Erie Canal. When they arrive in town and find no place available to live, Ella fears she may never have a home again.
