This hardback textbook is one of the Expert Consult Title range. It covers a huge range of clinical conditions and is well illustrated with clinical photographs, x-ray films, diagrams and clinical pathways. The language is straightforward and the clinical decision pathways are clear. The demonstration of the three recognised techniques for the creation of a cricothyrotomy is the best I have seen, using photographs of cadavers rather than diagrams. I am struggling to find any areas to improve on in this text which has already become my standard reference work in the ED. Dr. Steven Bush, Unividas, December 2008
"The online versions and supplements are user-friendly and a welcome addition to emergency medicine practitioners, educators, and students alike. Altogether, I find this text a worthy contribution to the young and vibrant specialty of emergency medicine." Dr. Gregory Luke Larkin, MD, MSPH, JAMA, July 2009
''What is particularly good about this textbook is the practical nature of its clinical information. For example, a clear guide is given to the non-specialised reader of how to interpret cranial CT scans with the commonly taught mnemonic 'Blood Can Be Very Bad' being expanded, explained and put into practical use in worked examples. The widespread use of clinical pathways is another feature that practising clinicians will appreciate when managing patients with those conditions or diagnostic conundrums. The 'Tips and Tricks' box is another effective way of allowing the information in the chapter, guide management or decision making.''
