Minerals are any of a class of naturally occurring solid, inorganic substances with a characteristic crystalline form and a homogenous chemical composition: any substance obtained by mining, especially a metal ore. While mineralogy is a branch of geology concerned with the study of minerals. Mining is a system of excavations made for the extractions of minerals, especially coal, ores or minerals. Mining and Mineralogy are responsible for economic and industrial growth of any nation. As a discipline, this falls under engineering, science and technology encompassing earth sciences and technology within its fold. This work consists of over 25,000 terms mainly targeted at mining and mineralogy. It covers geology, geophysics, geomorphology, geochemistry and other earth sciences as well since many of the entries are multidisciplinary in nature.
