The EWIC 2010-2020 consist of all new entries on ground-breaking contemporary research topics, such as social media, security regimes, cinema, diaspora studies, Hip-Hop & Rap, Queer movements, Islamophobia and masculinity. The Encyclopedia of Women & Islamic Cultures is an essential reference work for gender studies, Middle Eastern and Islamic studies, as well as religion, history, politics, anthropology, geography and related disciplines.
All articles published in the EWIC 2010-2020 have been published previously as part of EWIC Online (brill.com/ewio).
EWIC 2010-2020 collects all the articles from ten years of EWIC Online, into a nine-volume set – eight volumes of articles and one volume for the collective index. Four of the volumes will be published in 2020 and five in 2021. EWIC 2010-2020 offers 289 articles, written by 292 authors, covering 126 topics. Cumulatively, this is nearly two million words.

Notă biografică

Suad Joseph, PhD (1975), Columbia University, is Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and Women and Gender Studies at the University of California, Davis. She has published on women, families, youth, and citizenship in the Arab world, including Gender and Citizenship in the Middle East (Syracuse, 2000).
