Bern Will Brown, noted northern author, artist, photographer, and respected community leader living in Colville Lake, Northwest Territories, provides new insights and perspectives on the Sahtu Dene, the people referred to as the Hareskin in Alexander Mackenzieâ??s 1793 journal. Having lived among them for over sixty years and as a speaker of their dialect, Brown is well positioned to provide an adventure in history and culture rooted in the Hareskin traditional way of life.
â??Bernâ??s devotion to the people of the Sahtu is evident in all his work. End-of-the-Earth People is his latest contribution to a valuable record of the Northâ?¦.
â?? from the foreword by Norman Yakeleya, Member of the Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly, Sahtu Electoral District
â??End-of-the-Earth People: The Arctic Hareskin is a welcome addition to Bern Will Brownâ??s long list of contributions, a portrait created in words of a people he has come to know in ways that anthropologists and ethnologists could only envy.
from the afterword by Charles Arnold, Former Director, Prince of Wales Northern Cultural Centre, Yellowknife, NT
