Set in the Smoky Mountains, the Sassafras Curse is a story about a girl named Sassafras who is so self-conscious of her average looks, she generally shies away from human contact. Her only friend is an orphaned red wolf until the day she meets a handsome tree feller in the woods. In a moment of desperation, she unwisely seeks help from the evil Crick Witch - forever changing their lives.
