Ending Homelessness?: The Contrasting Experiences of Ireland, Denmark and Finland
Autor Eoin O'Sullivan, Michael Allen, Nicholas Pleace, Lars Benjaminsenen Limba Engleză Hardback – 25 feb 2020
Homelessness is often viewed as an inevitable social issue—Ending Homelessness argues otherwise. This book takes an in-depth look at the radial steps Denmark, Finland, and Ireland have taken to make homelessness a thing of the past, as well as the varied outcomes of these reform efforts. The measures taken by these three countries include such innovative ideas as closing shelters in favor of permanent housing and working to strengthen services that prevent homelessness from occurring in the first place. By providing some of the first comprehensive documentation and analysis of these innovative municipal initiatives, Ending Homelessness fills a crucial gap in the literature of this field, while also pointing the way forward toward new policy lessons.
