Jesper Jarl Fanø has worked extensively on the implementation and enforcement of MARPOL Annex VI and the EU Sulphur Directive, first at the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, then at the Danish Maritime Authority while teaching international law (including UNCLOS) at Copenhagen University. He currently works at A.P. Møller Mærsk.
