Curto (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is assistant professor of history at York University, associate editor of the Portuguese Studies Review, and author of Alcoól e Escravos: O comércio das bebibas alcoólicas e o seu impacto em Angola durante o tráfico de escravos, c. 1480-1830 (Lisbon: Editora Vulgata, Colecção "Tempos e Espaços Africanos," 2003).
Paul E. Lovejoy (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is Distinguished Research Professor in History, the Director of the Harriet Tubman Research Centre on the African Diaspora, and the Canada Research Chair in African Diaspora History at York University. He is the author of Transformations in Slavery: A History of Slavery in Africa.
