Environmental Crime in Criminology

Autor Katja Eman, Gorazd MeSko
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 6 aug 2014
Today, in the age of electronics, the Internet, and robots, we are faced with a different side of human development: environmental degradation, pollution, destruction, and harm. Environmental issues and natural disasters known as environmental crime have rocketed to the top of the scale of security problems and survival issues of modern society. Despite the fast worldwide development of green criminology and environmental crime studies in the last decades, their development in the region of South-Eastern Europe has only just started. Therefore, this book provides an early look at environmental crime in comparative criminology and criminal-justice surveys, while giving the reader an insight into the chronological development of green criminology. Environmental crime in Slovenia is analysed from different aspects using triangulation of qualitative and quantitative research methods. The views on the paramount role of the green criminology and relevant solution proposals based on the identified characteristics of environmental crime should be particularly useful to students, criminologists, other scholars, and other professionals dealing with environmental crime issues daily.
