Only shadowy traces of the Pre-Christian religion of Ireland survive. Despite the remarkable openness of the clerical scribes in incorporating native traditions into their masterful epics, what remains to us are stories born from Pagan culture, but woven into a Christian and Classical framework where native Gods become exceptional mortals. Just as certain of the literary mystics of the Gaelic revival, the author seeks to make the connection between a lost native Irish spirituality and the sublime theologies of the Indian sages whose tradition maintains the flame of that ancient and common spark.
