Miriam Decosta-Willis taught at LeMoyne–Owen College, George Mason University, University of Maryland, and Memphis State University. Her published works includeDaughters of the Diaspora: Afra-Hispanic Writers,Notable Black Memphians, andSingular Like a Bird. She studied at Wellesley College and Johns Hopkins University.

Reginald Martinreceived his MFA from Norwich University and his PhD from University of Tulsa. His academic focus is on composition and African-American literary theory. His published works includeA Deeper Shade: The Best in Black EroticaandEverybody Know What Time It Is.He teaches at the University of Memphis.

Roseann P. Bellreceived her PhD from Emory University. Her published works includeSturdy Black Bridges: Visions of Black Women in Literature andErotique Noire/Black Erotica.
