So far "Home-School-Agreements" (as they are called in England) have hardly been examined from a legal point of view. These agreements are made between parents, their children, and public schools and contain rules of behaviour. In some states in Germany these agreements have already been recognised by the legislative process (for example 42 Abs. SchulG of North-Rhine Westphalia). This book tries to answer emerging legal questions about this educational instrument: The author classifies them as agreements on objectives which can have the legal status of a public-law contract. Following this conclusion, the book also examines under which conditions the agreements can still be qualified as being free from coercion and which contents are legally permitted.
