From narrow escapes, being saved from a wild stallion and his sister's fire-breathing cow to first love, learning his first word at school and losing his first tooth, eight year old Sage Brush finds out about life. In the midst of the Great Depression, on a "wilderness" ranch at the end of the road in the Crazy Mountains of Montana, life remains rich in family and friends, animals and imagination.
