In the struggle to find clean, renewable energy, mankind has discovered the perfect candidate. Unfortunately, what could power our world for millenia to come, might also end it tomorrow. Alex and his friend James are attempting to squeeze out the last minutes of summer before their senior year at high school when all of a sudden, everything goes dark. The power to an entire quarter of the US power grid has just gone out and no one can figure out why. Alex and James think little of the power failure, but they have no idea just how significant it is until they meet an intriguing girl by the name of Baylee. Because of her, what they thought was going to be an exciting final year at school, turns into an adventure they'll never forget. Quite the enigma, Baylee starts out as a girl whom Alex cannot figure out, but when he does, both he and James find themselves pulled into the complete chaos that has only recently become part of Baylee's life. What the duo don't know is that Baylee has a secret past, one that she is forced to reveal when the dark remnants start to catch up with her. But her past isn't her only concern. Although she doesn't know it at first, she is connected to the power failure. Through her secret past and a series of events too bizarre for Alex and James to even believe, the three friends find themselves facing the truth behind the power struggle, and stranger still, they figure out that they're the only ones who can keep this new power source from killing us all. Saving worlds is no easy task, and paying the cost is harder still, but when you're faced with only two choices of outcomes, how do you pick between the lesser of two evils. How do you choose when no matter what choice you make, billions die?
