Thomas Faist ist Professor für Transnationale Beziehungen, Entwicklungs- und Migrationssoziologie an der Universität Bielefeld. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in den Bereichen internationale Migration, Integration ethnischer und nationaler Minderheiten, Staatsbürgerschaft, Sozialpolitik und Entwicklungspolitik. Faist ist Mitglied im Rat für Migration und wurde 2020 in die Nordrhein-Westfälische Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Künste gewählt.
