Struck blind at 46 years old, Robert Grier has been able to recover from the fear of living life as a blind person. "I didn't know what it was to be blind. I didn't feel fear until later when people told me what it was to be blind. I had to unlearn that. I have come to see my blindness as a gift, what many would call an affliction. It helped me see new ways to conquer fear." Today he shares his gifts by forming and leading small groups in Bible study. He is always wowing me with his insights. He went through hell. He wanted to commit suicide. Yet today he has no self-pity. He is the healthiest person I know." I think he is a strong leader who truly loves God and wants to do God's work. I speak from my heart." When we discuss parts of the Gospel that have miracle healings, Robert is very honest. It is poignant how the passages affect him. He knows the likelihood of prayer, of laying on hands healing him is almost non-existent. Yet he is careful and astute in his understanding that God cannot be manipulated. You cannot put God into a box."
