Self-awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self-awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment. Although it took Dion to hit rock bottom to start exploring becoming self-aware, that is where the shift began for him to be able to change his future. Ironically, I believe his soul was so tortured by not being able to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol and also not being allowed to be swayed because of his incarceration by the circumstances and the people in his life to distract him from his reality that ultimately forced him to face the stone hard cold truth of the life he was living.
