In so doing we see the Earth as it may appear in a thousand years, when the seas have risen, humanity has sent aloft great orbital cities, and antimatter is a fuel. Reading volume 1 isn't necessary, though doing so may enhance contextual quality. This volume has been written to contain the background that the story needs.
