This is a 17th century drama set in Cornwall and the Cape Verde Islands. A series of fateful encounters entwines the lives of two men; a British Naval captain, Henry Penberthy and the world's most infamous pirate, Long Ben Avery. Penberthy was sent from Cornwall to relieve the Royal Naval fort on the Island of Maio and to hunt down and capture known pirates living in the island's northern interior. Through a series of violent and bloody battles across the world's oceans there are some surprising twists and turns, punctuated by a good measure of romance, compassion and heartrending moments that will bring a tear to the reader's eye.
