As soon as I noticed he was gone, Sal lurches back into our work area from whatever narrow crevice he hides to sneak a smoke in these days, and by the look on his face I know he is absolutely bursting with big news. "What's got you all excited, TMZ?" I ask him, getting a shot in before he drops his latest bombshell. Most of us around here dread it when he stops by to talk to us, and unfortunately, I share a work area/cage with him. I've learned that if you want to get a word in with Sal, you better be real quick about it and jump on your first opportunity. TMZ is an entertainment-news organization, as you may already know. They spread embarrassing videos and rumors, as well as half truths and lies, all around the world. Mark Twain said that a lie can get half-way around the world before the truth even gets its' shoes on, and that seems pretty accurate in my experience. Sal fills a similar role to TMZ around here, and he's not the type to spread good news about anyone, even where his friends are concerned, amazingly enough. Matter of fact, the worse the news is, the better he seems to like it. This past week he's been spreading the word about his friend Dave, and how his wife is messing around on him, again.
