Fin de Siecle: The Meaning of the Twentieth Century: Library of International Relations, cartea 3

Editat de Alex Danchev
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 30 sep 1995
Bringing together specialists from the fields of international relations, history and politics, this work attempts to answer three main questions regarding the 20th century. It considers what the century's salient characteristics have been, what else is ending as the century ends, and whether Churchill was right in calling it a "disappointing century." As the contributors address these issues, they also discuss whether it has been an American century or a "nuclear" century, and whether it marks the "end of history," the triumph of Western liberalism, or merely the end of the Cold War.

Textul de pe ultima copertă

Bringing together internationally-known specialists from the fields of international relations, history and politics, Fin de Siecle ranges widely over the terrible twentieth century, attempting to answer three overarching questions: What have been the salient characteristics of the century; what, if anything, is ending as the century ends; and was Churchill right in calling it a 'disappointing century'? As the individual contributors address these problems, they raise further questions: has this been an American century or a nuclear century? Is it the 'end of history', the triumph of Western liberalism, or merely the end of the Cold War.
