Flaw in the Fabric

Autor Jim T. Lindsey
en Limba Engleză Paperback
A strange karma returns Raymond Kidd to an earlier life in a previous century while replacing him in this one with the brothers haunting the basement of his seaside home. Hope, love, suspense, magic and mystery all adrift in a sea of uncertainty, as the fabric of reality begins to unravel. Cat McCallum wants her husband back. But down-on-his-luck actor Raymond Kidd is nowhere to be found. In fact, he has fallen through a flaw in the fabric of space and time to an earlier life as Oliver Cole, sailing ship captain in mid-nineteenth century Halifax. Cat does have help. Angle and Octave Daggon, two ghosts from the basement of Raymond's seaside house, have come to life again. Former school teacher Octave has a crush on Cat and former pirate Angle once preyed on Captain Cole and wants to make amends. The three make a dedicated crew, but they need yet more help to retrieve someone who no longer exists. More help is available. The flaw in the fabric is still open. Unfortunately, there's no telling what else might come through it. Evil loves doors. Praise for Jim Lindsey's The Flaw in the Fabric "The writing is enticing, the story multi-layered." "I enjoyed falling under its spell." "He provides ample details of both characters and environments." "Well done. Simple. Gives you the information that you need to follow." "Very readable. Draws you into the story from the first page." -Judges for the 2012 Annual Book Awards, Bay Area Independent Publishers Assn. (BAIPA) "Wildly imaginative black comedy. The gripping opening drags the reader into the nightmare of Raymond's brush with the supernatural, with the threat of the invasive sea in the basement suffocatingly real. The details, such as the spectacles that won't come off Raymond's face and turn everyone he sees to a death's head, are surreal and horribly convincing. Lindsey has an enviable turn of phrase and this is excellent black comedy. The storyline has the classic fantasy themes of the dark forces versus the flawed human hero, and the alliances which develop in a world where magic is possible. I think this would appeal to someone who likes the black humour of Neil Gaiman's fantasy novels." -Jean Gill, France "How to write like a pirate Superb writing style and a captivating story filled with shining and disappearing characters, ghostly insights and laugh out loud humor. Great read. I'm hooked. Bring on the sequel, prequel or any work by this author. It's just that good." -C. L. Sumruld, Nashville TN "Your style is unique, your colorful language and characters are endearing. Your gentle choice of words in intimate moments is both sweet and believable. You seem to be able to connect thoughts and passion of both young and old. Quite carefully and sensitively you took me in and skillfully stirred my heart." -Judy Jones, Texarkana Texas "Eighteenth century time travel, grinding existential angst and hearty dollops of Buddhist-flavored metaphysics. -Standard-Times San Angelo Texas Praise for The Flaw in the Fabric Audiobook "What a beautifully-prepared audiobook I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks and this is one of the best I've ever heard." -Laura Maask, Medimagery
