Most of the time Topanga was dry and arid. The little streambed that went past the front of our home was mainly dry. Then in winter the rains would come, the water would loosen from the sky and fall upon the canyon, and the stream would turn into a wall of brown muddy roaring water so high that it looked like it would take the entire house down river with them all in it too
