A fourteen year old girl sits at her writing desk at the Vine Street Junior High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan and dreams of her future and writes during a class: "I like horseback riding. I was taught to ride by my father, who loved horses... I love to ride at any time of the day but I prefer the early morning or the evening before the sun has set. I also like to watch horse races which to me seem very exciting. My greatest desire is to someday, attend the Kentucky Derby. I think there must be nothing quite so thrilling as to see those fine three year olds leave the post, one of them to go down in history as winning the Kentucky Derby... Then there is swimming which I, literally adore. Moonlight swimming parties at the beach are grand... I like riding on racing coasters which are very thrilling if you get on a good one... I also like various scents of good perfumes. My favorite perfumes are 'Evening in Paris' or 'Spring-time in Paris, ' both are excellent and someday I will travel to Paris to personally try them all on " Little Florence Mary Tracy would indeed go to the Kentucky Derby, travel to Paris and many places throughout Europe, would date for many years a race car driver and yes swim under the moonlight in summer beach parties in Hollywood, Florida. This is the story of my aunt, a dashing, lively and dynamic woman of her time who indeed lived a spirited life.
