STR Inc reported that the average daily rate of hotel rooms in the Cayman Islands returned to the pre-pandemic level in the second quarter of 2022 and remained above 2019 rates in the third quarter of 2022.
• The hotel sector continues to expand with new hotels recently opening, such as the boutique hotel in the Seven Mile Beach Corridor called Locale, Grand Cayman, as well as hotels in development from major chains including Grand Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental, and Hilton. 
• The Cayman Islands received 180,624 stay-over visits in the first nine months of 2022. 
• Leisure Visits accounted for 87.4% of all visits. Visiting Relatives and Business Travel followed by 7.3% and 4.1%, respectively.
• There were 140 cruise ship calls, with 426,293 passengers between March and September 2022. 
• THE UNITED STATES made up 81.7% of all stay-over visits to the Cayman Islands, equating to 147,597 trips. This was 2.6 percentage points (pp) lower than in 2019.
