In his first volume, Half Way Home From Kinderlou, James Edward Alexander shared some pleasant stories of his childhood in Valdosta, Georgia, during the period 1934-1945. Forks in the Road begins in that interlude between childhood and adulthood, a period of simultaneous rapid growth and decline, when there is so much more to learn, while forgetting the habits of kindergarten.
