Richard H. Immerman is professor emeritus of history at Temple University, former Francis W. DeSerio Chair in strategic intelligence at US Army War College, and former president of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations. He is the author or coeditor of twelve books, including Empire for Liberty: A History of American Imperialism from Benjamin Franklin to Paul Wolfowitz, The Oxford Handbook of the Cold War, and The Hidden Hand: A Brief History of the CIA.
Jeffrey A. Engel is director of the Center for Presidential History at Southern Methodist University. He is author or coeditor of twelve books, including When the World Seemed New: George H. W. Bush and the End of the Cold War, When Life Strikes the President: Scandal, Death, and Illness in the White House, and The Four Freedoms: Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Evolution of an American Idea.
