Prior to his career in academia, he worked as a journalist, writing and editing for the "San Jose Mercury News, " the "Los Angeles Times, " and the "San Francisco Chronicle." Dr. Ludwig s writing has appeared in "Quill" and "Newspaper Research Journal, " and he has presented regionally and nationally on issues related to politics and the media.""
