Autor Robert G. Billard
en Limba Engleză Paperback
Under the guise of mounting the largest and longest unsupported assault on the North Pole a hundred and thirty Canadian men and women trek the length of Ellesmere Island. At the highest point of Canada they suddenly turn sharply east and within 18 minutes take the Canadian Forces Station "Alert" - the world's most northern military base.
Armed with hunting rifles the Canadian Revolutionary Army quickly find themselves locked in battle for survival in the dead of the Arctic winter as the Canadian Military race to find a way to quell the Revolution before there is more bloodshed.
From Within is a modern version of Loius Riel's Red River Rebellion. Is is an exploration of the national psyche in terms of what Canada represents to itself and the realities of its great size and what it takes to govern and defend it from its own extremists.
Using Nunavut and the Arctic as their springboard, the Canadian Revolutionary Army adopts the political and environmental concerns of the Inuit in their maifesto as well as the idea of a sovereign Canada that controls its own lands and waters.
"We have begun the Revolution here in Nunavut as a symbol of not only our own resilience but to honour & highlight the struggles of the Inuit. Our fight is for the undeniable rights of all Canadians to control their own destiny."

Notă biografică

Robert Billard, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, has lived in various places across Canada in an effort to understand both his personal and the national identity. He has been writing since grade school, winning the provincial library award for fiction short story at the age of 13.

He wrote his first novel in 1991 just to prove his English Major Girlfriend wrong who said he "couldn't do it." He did and this book rests locked away on a shelf in his Vancouver home. Never to be read by any living soul. His second novel, finished in 1995, was deemed to be worthy however "not Canadian enough" by Canadian small presses. This pushed him over the edge, propelling him toward writing From Within, about an armed political uprising in the Canadian Arctic. He finished this in 2005 after living on Baffin Island near the Arctic Circle for six years working as an architect.

While he eagerly awaits writing his fourth novel he bides his time with his wife and two sons, writing and publishing music (one of his songs, Terra Incognita, was recently voted one of the Top 100 Folk Songs in Canada), painting and working as an Architect in Vancouver, Canada.
