Under the guise of mounting the largest and longest unsupported assault on the North Pole a hundred and thirty Canadian men and women trek the length of Ellesmere Island. At the highest point of Canada they suddenly turn sharply east and within 18 minutes take the Canadian Forces Station "Alert" - the world's most northern military base.
Armed with hunting rifles the Canadian Revolutionary Army quickly find themselves locked in battle for survival in the dead of the Arctic winter as the Canadian Military race to find a way to quell the Revolution before there is more bloodshed.
From Within is a modern version of Loius Riel's Red River Rebellion. Is is an exploration of the national psyche in terms of what Canada represents to itself and the realities of its great size and what it takes to govern and defend it from its own extremists.
Using Nunavut and the Arctic as their springboard, the Canadian Revolutionary Army adopts the political and environmental concerns of the Inuit in their maifesto as well as the idea of a sovereign Canada that controls its own lands and waters.
