Ingo Heindel's study presents archaeological tool finds according to their effects. His classification hence does not begin with the individual tool, but with the question of whether this is a tool used to exert pressure, a tool that provides an impetus or a tool used to change the shape of something. The chapters are further subdivided according to whether the tools remove chips of material or not. Overall, this provides and effect-oriented view on craft production. Numerous visual sources illustrate the use of the different items. The sites discussed in this volume fall into the extensively conceived border area between Germany and Poland and are a unique compilation. The finds themselves are presented in the form of a numerical and a geographical finds register, as well as an extensive catalogue. In order to reflect the German-Polish character of the investigation, important tools and tool components are recorded in a German-Polish list of terms. Finally, the work contains an English and a Polish summary.
