Kate Whiteman, author of the reference and directory section, was a highly respected food writer and editor, who worked with the Roux Brothers and Raymond Blanc. She wrote The World Encyclopedia of Fish & Shellfish and Italian Food & Cooking (also published by Lorenz Books). Maggie Mayhew, author of the recipe section, is a freelance cooking writer and home economist. Before becoming a full-time writer and food consultant she was Deputy Food and Wine Editor of Living magazine.
