So far, he has edited 11 books with international publishers, including Elsevier Inc., Springer Nature and CRC Press (Taylor & Francis Group), co-authoredseveral book chapters, and published over 60 research articles in peer-reviewed international journals. His research interests include physiological, proteomic, and molecular studies of medicinal and crop plants in challenging environmental conditions.
Francisco J. Corpas is a Research Professor of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) who has more than 30 years of research experience in the metabolism of Reactive Oxygen, Nitrogen and Sulfur Species (ROS, RNS and RSS, respectively) in higher plants under physiology and environmental stress conditions using either the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana as well as plants of agricultural interest. Special interests are the implications of these reactive species in fruit ripening and the nitro-oxidative metabolism of plant peroxisome. Textul de pe ultima copertă
The book "Gasotransmitters Signaling in Plants under Challenging Environment" provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge on the role of gasotransmitters in plant stress responses. This edited volume delves deep into the captivating realm of gasotransmitters and their pivotal role in plant response to challenging environmental conditions. It brings together a wealth of cutting-edge research from around the world by leading experts in the field of gasotransmitter signaling in plants. Gasotransmitters, including nitric oxide, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon monoxide, have long been recognized as essential mediators of cellular signaling in animals. However, recent research has unveiled their incredible importance in orchestrating plant responses to environmental stresses. From drought and heat to pollution and pathogens, these tiny molecules serve as potent messengers, navigating plants through adversity and fostering their resilience in the face of an ever-changing world. As the world faces unprecedented environmental challenges, the knowledge presented in this book opens new avenues for sustainable agriculture and biotechnological interventions.
The book provides an overview of the basic biology of gasotransmitters, including their production, metabolism, and signaling mechanisms. Further, it discusses the role of gasotransmitters in plant responses to specific abiotic stresses, such as drought, salinity, heavy metal toxicity, and high temperatures. The book also focuses on the potential applications of gasotransmitters in plant biotechnology. "Gasotransmitters Signaling in Plants under Challenging Environment" is an essential resource for researchers, students, and anyone interested in understanding the role of gasotransmitters in plant stress responses.
