The intensification of the money economy in the High Middle Ages did not stop at politics either: "The supreme king on earth today is money", aptly commented a contemporary. This monetization meant that the grace of the ruler became as measurable and tradable as the allegiance of the subjects. Reign rights also received a prize, when princes were invested and when the king was elected. The work for the 12th and 13th centuries examines the associated change in the political order, including the numismatic and metrological foundations.
