After the mysterious death of his astronaut father, George Merrill and his mother are sent to live on a space station 36000 kilometers above earth. At first, the technological marvels around him make his life seem like every young boy's dream. And this gets even better when the dolphins and other rare animals on board start to communicate with him. But do the authorities have dark plans for his new friends? And has he been sent back to earth for military training to get him out of the way? His world, run by a giant computer, is at odds with warring factions of badlanders called Fans, and George has to seek help from them when aliens arrive and disrupt the planet's technology.
