Recenzii
Polette offers more than 140 kinesthetic activities in science, mathematics, geography, and U.S. history content areas for students in grades 4-8. The suggestions include games, stories and storytelling, and plays designed for group participation.
Nancy Polette, an author and educator with more than 30 years experience, certainly did her homework when researching this unique and innovative workbook. Covering science, mathematics, geography, and United States history, and geared toward students in grades four through eight, this title provides more than 140 fun-filled activities that are sure to motivate and inspire students to enjoy reading, writing, and storytelling..This book is an interesting approach to using language arts across the curriculum and can be used by teachers in each of the four subject areas. It also can be used by librarians who want to create new and unique programs for this age group. Recommended.
Who says nonfiction is slow and boring? Nancy Polette, author of many stimulating, literacy-promoting books for the classroom, invites you to Get Up and Move with Nonfiction! .[A]n obvious choice for the elementary or intermediate classroom setting, but I can see this being a great resource for a public librarian, homeschool family, or daycare provider wanting to conduct a lively nonfiction book discussion, in-depth study on a topic, or a fun afterschool program.
The ideas presented are well-thought-out and provide the needed materials and guidance to carry out, although without indication of the grade level, the reader will not be able to select an activity based on the level of the students. However, this lack of leveling can also assist the user who wishes to select based on topic and activity type rather than level indication, particularly as topic coverage varies from state to state. An author/title index enables a librarian or teacher to find activities based on specific titles already being used or available for use.
