The book, although undoubtedly belonging to the genre of non fiction, captures the reader like a refined detective story. Few writers have such ability to convey the "noise of time" its "physiology" and spirit. This novel is a kind of requiem for the 1940ies- 80ies., it reproduces an era with exceptional accuracy on an example of one intelligent Leningrad family with rich historical roots. Descriptions of days past are side by side with aphoristic assessment of events of 2011-2012 are endearing in their violent conviction of reflections about the problems and place in the global culture of the Russian emigration, truly peerless in its creative power. But the main attraction of the book is its "fleur of time," the creation of which requires both skill and a special, endangered, rare nowadays "structure of the soul."
