Susan Linnea Kallander grew up on a farm with cows, chickens, vegetables and cats. She was a 4-Her and showed her Guernsey cow 'Twinnie' and took ribbons for her chickens and vegetables in local fairs.
A graduate of Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Susan later discovered she liked writing stories. She combined the two and wrote and illustrated her first children's book, *Up in Smoke.*
While she traveled for seven years in a big motor home with her husband, Larry Boomgaarden and cat, Godfrey, she became delighted with this beautiful, amazing America. She had to share her enthusiasm, so she wrote letters to her grandchildren.These are the basis for future Godfrey stories about America.
Susan learned along the way that many children have no idea where their food comes from or how to choose good fruits and vegetables and how spectacular fresh picked produce tastes.
In this story, *Godfrey Finds a Home, * an abandoned kitty cat is discovered up a tree in a meadow. He is welcomed into the farm family and finds out how food is grown and how it gets from farm to table.This is the beginning of his wonderful adventures."
