Goodnight Sweet Prince‘Goodnight Sweet Prince’ is a fantasy novel for adults and young adults, set partly in our own world, and partly in the alternate imaginary world of Elsynvaal.
Emma, a young music student in Glasgow has recurrent dreams featuring a handsome young man whom she has never met. But when the dreams turn to hallucinations, Emma turns to her friends, Jeff and Mhari, to try to discover the identity of the stranger. Dabbling with a Ouija board, Mhari inadvertently opens a link to an alternate world, Elsynvaal, the home of the dream stranger, a mage named Horatio. After crossing to their world, Horatio invites Emma and her friends to return with him to Elsynvaal to perform at his King’s Coronation. Emma, is persuaded to go, together with her friends Jeff, Milo and Maggie.But on arrival at the Court of Elasyn, the young musicians soon begin to feel misgivings. After meeting Master Will Shaksper, a poet whom Horatio had previously brought from Earth, they begin to notice striking similarities between events occurring around them in Elasyn Castle and the plot-line of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, “Hamlet”. The young Prince Hamnet has been disinherited, his throne taken by his uncle Claude.When Jeff discovers that one of them has been brought to Elsynvaal for a specific purpose, Horatio tries to send the four back, but the way through the Ether to their home world is blocked. They cannot cross over. They cannot go home. About the AuthorChris Davidson was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, the third of four daughters. After leaving school, she worked for a time for Glasgow Public Libraries, before going back to college to gain more qualifications and a primary teaching qualification.
Now married and living in East Kilbride, she taught at a small primary school in Hamilton before moving south to West Yorkshire, followed three years later by a move to Reading in Berkshire, where she still lives.Teaching jobs being scarce at the time, Chris moved back into library work, an area in which she has remained ever since. She has spent the remainder of her working life in Public and academic libraries and since 1996 has been the full-time School Librarian in an Independent Girls’ school, a job which she thoroughly enjoys. Working in a school library allows Chris to help encourage good reading habits in the pupils, as well as keeping in touch with current reading trends.Chris has been writing since a teenager and has written a number of short stories and has two completed novels in addition to several unfinished manuscripts, including several sequels in the Tales of Elsynvaal. ‘Goodnight Sweet Prince’ is the first to be published.Chris has travelled extensively, always enjoying the adventure of new places.
