Grapes for Christmas

Autor Kim Macinnis
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 mai 2018
Just when you thought you lost faith in humanity, community and a higher spirit... Grapes for Christmas is an uplifting story that takes place in the context of an ominous illness. The story focuses on a recently retired nurse and single mother who is diagnosed with ALS later in life when she should be enjoying her retirement. In the midst of her retirement, Margaret gradually experiences a change in her ability to walk and sometimes speak clearly. After many visits to many doctors concerning these unsettling symptoms, Margaret is diagnosed with ALS. As a nurse, she knows exactly what this means and has cared for many people afflicted with this disease. Instead of falling completely apart, Margaret prepares for what she thinks is the battle of her life but later realizes all of the most important battles have already been won. She has had a very successful career, she raised five very successful children who adore her and she spoiled all fourteen of her grandchildren despite the many obstacles she faced. As her children prepare to do whatever it takes to care for their mother, they, too realize this was not the end of their mother's life; it was the beginning of a path that takes Margaret where she always knew she'd go. Grapes for Christmas shares the happiest times in Margaret's life, especially those that involved raising her children by herself and spending time with her extended family and close friends. This story is a bittersweet reminder of how valued family is and how the power of kindness and faith can guide and support us through the most difficult times in our lives.
