Public țintă

This work is intended to be a clear, readable, and engagingly written guide for undergraduates, and educated laypersons, though with my own original observations that will be of interest and useful to graduate students and specialists in classical literature, culture and history. Its arrangement chronologically and by major authors will make it highly useful as a secondary r equired text to accompany a class in which students are reading the original ancient texts alongside. Since the approach here is mainly literary but the texts are historical, the book will, I hope, be used for literature classes, classes in ancient civilization, and courses in ancient history, and will serve the curriculum of both History departments and Classics departments.
