Officer Lenny Johnson, a twelve year veteran of the Detroit Police Department found himself at the end of his rope. The walls were closing in; he was desperate and took his family hostage threatening to kill anyone who tried to come close. Police Chief Mathews knew his department couldn't afford any more negative press and authorized the negotiator to resolve the problem any way possible and get the family safely out of the home.
