Heinrich Hauser (19011955) is one of the most unusual authors of the early 20th century. In a unique way he combined the roles of writer, journalist, photographer and filmmaker with those of traveller, worker and technician. The anthology presents new research on the border crosser between literature, journalism and reportage, but also art and the world of machines. His complex work and his highly productive existence connected the times from the German Empire to the Federal Republic. After great success in the Weimar years, Hauser's life was shaken by National Socialism, to which he was ambivalent. He always presented himself as a man who is at home in all fields, and yet he was driven by events.
