The book documents my observations and experiences as a pre-teen/adult living in the South during the civil rights movement. It relates heretofore untold first hand stories of people and events during the civil rights movement in the deep south. The main objective is to present realistic accounts of life during this dramatic and critical period in U. S. history. It is different from others because the people interviewwed were looking back to that era as they assessed their current lives. This book will appeal to readers from teenage to older adult, male or female. It is appropriate for persons from middle school to college educated. The book was inspired by a resurgence of interests in civil rights and racism. It was also inspired by a desire to provide a view of the lingering effects of civil rights conflicts.
