Autor Gregory Piazza, Benjamin Hohlfelder, Samuel Z. Goldhaber
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 8 sep 2015
This book has been developed over numerous iterations within the Brigham and Women’s Hospital to provide the most critical information for trainees and physicians, and thus it represents a truly practical guidebook for anyone who needs the key information on the diagnosis, management and prevention of venous thromboembolism. Specific areas of focus include understanding the risk factors for VTE and the role of the right ventricle in PE pathophysiology. Efficient algorithms for diagnosis and exclusion of DVT and PE are emphasized. An state-of-the-art review of current techniques for the management of high risk VTE, including submassive and massive PE, is presented. The novel oral anticoagulants are revolutionizing the way VTE is treated and are covered in detail.

Textul de pe ultima copertă

This handbook provides a state-of-the-art but practical guide to understanding the risk factors and pathophysiology, diagnosis and risk stratification, and treatment and prevention of venous thromboembolism  (VTE).
VTE, including deep vein thrombosis  and pulmonary embolism , is the third most common cardiovascular disorder after myocardial infarction and stroke.  Accordingly, an understanding of the risk factors, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of VTE is critical for all clinicians, and not just cardiovascular medicine specialists.
With the use of clinical vignettes and self-assessment questions to emphasize key concepts from each chapter,  Handbook of Venous Thromboembolism will enable readers to incorporate changes in a rapidly advancing field into the daily care of patients who have suffered or are at risk of developing VTE.

Caracteristici

The Handbook provides an algorithmic approach to the diagnosis, risk stratification and treatment of VTE The Handbook provides a high-yield review of the clinical trials and evidence-based guidelines that drive the care of VTE patients A case-based approach contextualizes the major points of each chapter to aid the reader in understanding and retaining critical pathways in the care of VTE patients
